LGBTIQA+ Foundations

LGBTIQA+ Foundations builds participant awareness of LGBTIQA+ communities and improves their inclusive practice skills.

This training explores the diversity of LGBTIQA+ communities, the impact of discrimination, and supports participants to begin implementing inclusive practices.

What will you learn?

Participants will gain an understanding of:

LGBTIQA+ identities and concepts, including gender, sexuality and sex characteristics.
unconscious bias, personal assumptions, lived experience, and political and global trends influence the way we interact with and treat others.
impacts of discrimination on LGBTIQA+ communities, including the effects of intersecting and compounding marginalisations.
inclusive language and practice in workplace environments and act as an effective ally.
next steps for themselves and their organisation to continue building inclusive and affirming environments.

Delivery

3-hour interactive course
Delivered in-house at your workplace. Capacity: Up to 25 participants
Individual and group organisation bookings available.
Face-to-face delivery encourages discussion, reflection and shared learning, with practical tools for inclusive language and workplace practice.

The workshop is facilitated by LGBTIQA+ peers with relevant experience and expertise, bringing lived experience and practical insight to the conversation.

Organisation bookings

Organisation bookings include one follow-up consulting session to help turn the learning into practical organisational change.

This provides an opportunity to reflect on the course, identify priorities and consider how inclusive practice can be strengthened across your workplace.

Please note: Travel for face-to-face consulting is included within 60km: beyond may incur a cost to the organisation.

Course Details

For organisations:

Commercial Business/Large non-profit: $3,200
An annual revenue in excess of $10 million (for example, hotels, banks, universities).

Government: $2,800
Public sector, ministerial departments, local councils etc.

Medium non-profit: $2,400
Annual revenue between $1 and $9 million.

Small business or small non-profit: $2,000
Not-for-profit/community organisations or sole traders/small businesses with Annual Revenue of less than $1 million.
