Sexual Healthline

Got a sexual health question? You can talk confidentially to a SHINE SA nurse for free on the Sexual Healthline. The Sexual Healthline is open Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 12:30pm

With an easing of border restrictions on 23 November, SHINE SA are implementing a range of additional strategies to ensure everyone’s safety.

Telehealth Appointments

Telehealth appointments are available. All first appointments will be via phone appointment.
To learn more about getting the most out of telehealth read the following quick guide: APHN Your Quick Guide to Telehealth

Face-to-Face Appointments

Strict infection control measures are in place for clients attending our clinics. Please read the following prior to attending an appointment.

Anyone with COVID symptoms should NOT attend a health setting unless directed by a doctor, and generally will not be seen at SHINE SA clinics without a negative COVID-19 PCR test within the last 48 hours. Symptoms may be mild and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, shortness of breath, change in taste, change in smell, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headache, muscle pain. If you have any of these symptoms you should have a COVID-19 test as soon as possible and self-isolate until you have the result. If you develop any of these symptoms, please call SHINE SA before your appointment.

If you are currently quarantining, or are a household contact of someone quarantining you must NOT attend our services. If you are quarantining you cannot attend a SHINE SA clinic until you have had the appropriate COVID testing/negative test result. Please notify our reception if the above the applies to you.

If you have attended an exposure location at a specified date and time on the SA Health website  (SA contact tracing and exposure locations | SA Health) you need to follow SA Health directions for quarantining and testing.

Screening questions will be asked when booking an appointment and when you arrive for your appointment.

Vaccination Status

You will be asked about your COVID-19 vaccination status when you make your appointment.  Regardless of a person’s vaccination status, all clients will have a telephone appointment as their first appointment.

All SHINE SA staff are vaccinated.

Waiting for Your Appointment

To reduce the number of people in our clinics you will be asked to wait outside or in your car and you will be called to come in for your appointment.

Masks

Surgical masks are required to be worn by clients and contractors. We will provide you with a surgical mask if you don’t have one.

It is essential to wear a mask correctly before entering, and at all times within our clinics. Mask exemption no longer applies to our clinics as we are a high-risk setting. If you do not wish to wear a mask, we will offer you Telehealth appointments.

All clinical staff at SHINE SA will wear the appropriate protection including masks and where appropriate face shields, goggles or other PPE.

Checking In

You will need to use the Covid-Safe Check-in QR code before you enter the building for any reason. If you don’t have the app you can use your smart phone camera and a secure web form will open to check in. If you do not have a compatible smart phone, a paper record will be available for you to provide your details. We will also ask to see your vaccination certificate if you are vaccinated.

We are committed to providing ongoing care in these difficult times. If you have any questions, please call us on 8300 5300 (Woodville Clinic) or 7099 5320 (Hyde Street Practice).

The Clean Needle Program  continues at both SHINE SA Woodville and Hyde Street Practice. For more information speak to our receptionists, call 8300 5300.

More information on our fees:

  • Minor procedures involve a consult fee, gap payment and consumable fee (if applicable).
  • Clients experiencing hardship are encouraged to discuss their situation with the clinician at their appointment.
  • All clients are required to pay the cost of supplied consumables.
  • Please note that fees are calculated on the actual duration of a consultation rather than the length of appointment booked, speak to our friendly receptionists or clinicians if you are unsure of the appointment type to book.
  • A cancellation fee may be charged if clients do not cancel their appointment or fail to attend.
  • Non-Medicare card holders will be charged a full cost of consult without a rebate. Any pathology taken will be directly billed. We do not process Private Health Insurance claims, we do provide a receipt for you to claim through your insurer.
If you don’t have your own Medicare card but are listed on your family Medicare card, we can still see you without the card and our staff can obtain your number from Medicare. If you are over 15, you can obtain a Medicare card of your own by attending a Medicare office with identification and completing a Medicare Copy/Transfer Application Form. It’s a good idea to discuss this with a parent or carer if possible.

At your appointment you may be seen by a qualified health professional completing advanced training with us. A doctor, nurse or midwive will always be present to provide supervision. Talk to our reception staff to discuss what this might mean for you.

At SHINE SA you’ll be treated with respect and receive quality health care at all times. For information about your rights as a client of SHINE SA, see Client Rights.
