Contraceptive Implant (Implanon NXT) Training for Doctors

This training program is designed to equip doctors with the knowledge and practical skills required for safe and effective insertion and removal of the contraceptive implant (Implanon NXT). The training will also cover counselling, patient assessment, and the management of complications.

The training combines interactive theoretical learning with simulated hands-on practice using a model arm.

Participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of counselling and assessment prior to implant insertion
  • Learn about administration of local anaesthetic, insertion and removal techniques, and management of complications
  • Demonstrate practical skills with simulated training on model arms
  • Explore management of bleeding changes associated with Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC).

Enrolment Options

The Contraceptive Implant (Implanon NXT) Training has three options for enrolment:

Face-to-Face Training – Onsite 2-hour session combining theory and practical simulation training.

Hybrid Training – Complete an online theory module prior to attending a 1-hour morning onsite practical simulation session.

NB. The online theory module must be completed before the simulation training. Access details for the online theory module will be provided after enrolment
