Develop contraceptive implant insertion and removal skills and improve your understanding of counselling, assessment and complications.

Course Outline

The Contraceptive Implant (Implanon NXT) Training for Registered Nurses and Midwives is an interactive session, incorporating theoretical instruction and simulated practical application.

Participants will:

  • engage with theory training regarding counselling and assessment prior to inserting the contraceptive implant
  • develop an understanding of administration of local anaesthetic, insertion and removal procedure, and management of complications
  • demonstrate practical learning with simulated training on model arms
  • learn about the management of complications and bleeding changes with Long Acting Reversible Contraceptives

Enrolment Options

The Contraceptive Implant (Implanon NXT) Training has two options for enrolment: Face-to-Face and Hybrid.

Face-to-Face Course – Onsite 2-hour theory workshop and simulation training.

Hybrid Course – Online theory module and 1-hour onsite simulation training.

If you are enrolling in the Hybrid course please select the appropriate date for the face-to-face simulation workshop, information on your online theory modules will be sent post-enrolment.
