Learn how to support young people living with disability by providing comprehensive relationships and sexual health education in a safe and inclusive environment.
Our 2-day course, facilitated by experienced educators, explores the information, skills and strategies staff needed by adults to deliver comprehensive relationships and sexual health education to students living with a disability.
This course explores modified programs and resources to individualise content and ensure that relationships and sexual health education is accessible to young people living with a disability.
The course will involve interactive strategies and activities to get a practical understanding of teaching within SHINE SA’s Principles of Best Practice.
In this course, participants will:
explore topics and issues to cover in a comprehensive program
examine teaching and learning methodologies to meet individual needs
acquire resources and resource development
identify protective strategies and sexual safety
develop an understanding of responding to sexualised behaviours
identify support networks available to staff, parents/carers and young people.
The course includes a range of resources and curriculum materials, mapped to the Australian Curriculum and the Department for Education’s Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum.
Recognition
Participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement and recognition of training and development hours with reference to relevant Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

Course Details
This course is designed for people working with school-based students living with a disability including teachers, SSOs, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Developmental Educators.
