The program involves four sessions held 6-8 weeks apart combined with workplace activities provide participants with increased knowledge and capacity in:
This program, presented by SHINE SA, is based on a set of 6 national standards developed by Rainbow Health Victoria, in conjunction with QIP (Quality, Innovation & Performance), known as Rainbow Tick Accreditation.
NOTE: Although we refer to LGBTIQ inclusion, this course will also cover a broader spectrum of LGBTIQA+ inclusion.
A minimum of 2 participants from each organisation are required to attend. This program provides the tools to implement change, therefore participants should hold leadership roles or be in charge of areas like quality, accreditation, human resources, service design, evaluation, diversity and engagement.
Please complete the Application Form below. We endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible on your application.
Tasks are assigned prior to the first session and at the end of sessions 1, 2 & 3. These tasks involve practical activities at participants’ workplaces to start the change management process towards accreditation.
Important: Organisations can choose to be assessed against the 6 national standards through an external process undertaken by QIP in order to achieve the Rainbow Tick. The HOW2 LGBTIQ Inclusion Training can support organisations seeking to achieve this accreditation and is suitable for any organisation seeking to become more inclusive for LGBTI clients and staff.
No, HOW2 is not an accreditation process. However, it is based on the standards which are used in the Rainbow Tick accreditation process and requires the implementation of some of them in your own workplace as part of the coursework.
In this way it prepares an organisation for the Rainbow Tick accreditation process. It also gives you a good idea as to whether Rainbow Tick accreditation is suitable for your organisation.
Organisations may enrol in HOW2 even if they’re not planning to undergo Rainbow Tick accreditation so that they can become more inclusive in their practice, but without formal accreditation at this stage. The practical components in the participants’ own workplace make it particularly suitable for this.
If you would like to enquire about the Rainbow Tick accreditation process, there are now two organisations which provide this in Australia: QIP and ACHS.
