Equity in Action: Strengthening LGBTIQA+ Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence Practice

Learn how to support LGBTIQA+ people impacted by family, domestic and sexual violence and how to shape a respectful environment where LGBTIQA+ people feel valued.

This one-day course is designed for professionals working with people experiencing family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV).

The course will provide participants with an understanding and awareness of the unique struggles LGBTIQA+ individuals face including minority stressors, prejudice, discrimination, and their impacts. It will also cover the unique aspects of FDSV experienced by LGBTIQA+ people, including those with intersectional identities.

This course will:

  • improve your understanding of the diverse experiences of LGBTIQA+ individuals
  • discuss effective approaches for creating safe, inclusive, and supportive environments for LGBTIQA+ people
  • provide you with SHINE SA developed resources to support your learning implementation, and knowledge of where to find further information and support
  • increase your confidence in being able to provide appropriately sensitive and respectful support to LGBTIQA+ community members experiencing FDSV.
