Contraception Workshop for Nurses and Midwives


This interactive 3-hour workshop is ideal for professionals looking to expand their knowledge of contraception options.

Through hands-on learning and discussion, participants will gain an up-to-date understanding of contraceptive choices to better support client needs and informed decision-making. 

Course Outline

This interactive workshop will provide a broad overview of choices in contraception, clinical consultation and the safe application of this knowledge in a clinical setting. 

 

Participants will cover:

  • clinical consultation and counselling 
  • choices in contraception 
  • emergency contraception options 
  • in-depth review of long acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) 
  • contraception initiation including quick start 
  • management of contraindications and side effects.

Eligibility

This course is open to nurses, midwives, Aboriginal Health Workers/Practitioners, AMIC workers and other health workers who are interested in developing their knowledge of contraception.
