Let’s Talk About Sexual Health: Youth Focus

 

This engaging 2-day course is designed to help workers build their knowledge and confidence in addressing relationships and sexual health with young people.

Through interactive discussions and activities, participants gain practical insights in a supportive learning environment. The course content is tailored to be relevant and applicable to the real-life contexts participants encounter in their work.

Course Outline

Course topics include:

  • What is sexual health?
  • Values, attitudes, and beliefs
  • Aboriginal health
  • Puberty
  • The menstrual cycle
  • Reproduction
  • Contraception
  • Pregnancy
  • Respecting difference
  • Sexual and gender diversity
  • Healthy and unhealthy relationships
  • Intimate partner violence
  • Consent
  • Sexting and pornography
  • STIs and safer sex behaviours
  • Services and support.

 

On completion of the course, you will have:

  • the confidence to work with clients around relationships and sexual health
  • an understanding of how values and beliefs may influence your practice and your clients’ responses to relationships and sexual health
  • accurate and inclusive vocabulary about sexual health, gender, sexuality, anatomy, and relationships to use when working with your clients
  • practical skills and knowledge to support clients with relationships and sexual health
  • exposure to resources and ideas on how to use them effectively with clients to learn about relationships and sexual health.

SHINE SA is able to offer training sessions of varied length and content for interested parties according to their needs. Fees will be negotiated directly with the training organisers.
