This course is designed for South Australian health practitioners who:
Have extensive experience in sexual and reproductive health
Have at least 12 months of clinical experience inserting and/or removing Implanon NXT
(Recommended) Have experience in training or education—though this is not essential.
You’ll learn how to train other practitioners using the latest evidence-based guidelines on contraceptive implant use, including insertion, removal, side effect management, and complication care. Training is delivered in line with Implanon NXT Training Recommendations for Health Care Professionals.
You will also gain practical skills in:
Teaching and supervising health professionals
Facilitating learning in clinical settings
Providing feedback and assessment.
Note: Practitioners who perform insertions only may be eligible to train others in insertion alone.
This blended program includes both online and face-to-face components:
For regional and remote participants (RRMA 3–7): A virtual workshop can be arranged with prior consultation. A $50 deposit is required to access the Implanon training kit.
SHINE SA is offering full scholarships for primary healthcare workers working in regional and rural SA to complete our Contraceptive Implant (Implanon NXT) Train the Trainer Program — at no cost to you.
Scholarships cover full course fees and accommodation for participants from regional and rural South Australia.

We encourage the following practitioners to apply: doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses or midwives with an interest in education and training as well as a commitment to providing ongoing training in Implanon NXT insertion and removal.
