Contraceptive Implant (Implanon NXT) Training for Registered Nurses and Midwives

This training program is designed to equip nurses and midwives with the knowledge and practical skills required for safe and effective insertion and removal of the contraceptive implant (Implanon NXT). The training will also cover counselling, patient assessment and the management of complications.

The training combines interactive theoretical learning with simulated hands-on practice using a model arm

Participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of counselling and assessment prior to implant insertion
  • Learn about administration of local anaesthetic, insertion and removal techniques, and management of complications
  • Demonstrate practical skills with simulated training on model arms
  • Explore management of bleeding changes associated with Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARCs).
