Teaching It Like It Is — Tailored Learning/FLO

Our 2-day course, facilitated by experienced educators, explores the information, skills and strategies needed to empower young people to make informed relationships and sexual health choices.

This course considers the unique challenges of supporting young people in Tailored Learning Locations. Discussions will be tailored for the specific context that participants are working in.

Through activities, demonstrations and discussions, participants will have the opportunity to expand their own knowledge and understanding while also exploring ways to engage young people in learning about relationships and sexual health topics.

Topics covered in this course include:

• Foundations of relationships and sexual health

• Creating safe and inclusive learning environments

• Consent and respectful relationships

• Gender identity, diversity, and expression

• Puberty, reproduction, and body changes

• Challenging gender stereotypes and expectations

• Media influences and sexualisation

• Sexting, pornography, and online safety

• Understanding diversity of attraction

• Sexual activity, STIs, and safer sex practices

Participants will receive access to a digital file with resources. 

Recognition

Participants will receive a certificate of achievement and recognition of training and development hours with reference to relevant Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

This course is designed for educators, leaders and support workers working with young people in tailored learning settings (including FLO providers, independent learning centres, Better Behaviour Centres, external education, home education etc.)
