Pregnancy Choices Training

The course is practical whilst also covering the broader social and political issues and clinical options for pregnancy, incorporating cultural considerations into topics and resources.

Participants will:

• discuss the global, national and local overview of unintended pregnancy
• consider the cultural implications of pregnancy from an Aboriginal perspective
• learn about reproductive coercion, family and domestic violence in the context of pregnancy
• develop an awareness of contraception options available in Australia including emergency contraception
• explore a broader understanding of abortion, counselling responses to pregnancy, antenatal and postnatal pathways.

The course is open to nurses, midwives, doctors, counsellors, community health workers, school counsellors, youth workers, Aboriginal Health Workers and any professional who may work with people who may experience an unintended pregnancy.
