Clinical Forum: HIV PrEP and Doxy-PEP for General Practice

SHINE SA’s clinical forum is designed to support health professionals in developing a deeper understanding of HIV PrEP and Doxy-PEP. 

Presented by SHINE SA’s Consultant Sexual Health Physician, Dr Danae Kent, this clinical forum will discuss identifying patients who are at risk of HIV and syphilis exposure and provide practical frameworks for prescribing HIV PrEP and Doxy-PEP in general practice.

Participants will cover how to:

  • Identify patients at risk for HIV and syphilis exposure
  • Develop a framework to assess a person at risk of HIV exposure for prescribing of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)
  • Discuss and demonstrate ability to prescribe HIV PrEP safely
  • Develop framework to assess a person at high risk of syphilis exposure for prescribing Doxy-PEP (post exposure prophylaxis)
  • discuss the risks and benefits of prescribing Doxy-PEP.

This clinical forum is open to doctors, nurses, midwives, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and allied health professionals.
