‘It’s Your Right’ to Celebrate Sexual Health Week with Us (7-13 September)

Sexual Health Week (7–13 September) is all about demystifying, destigmatising and shining a spotlight on your sexual and reproductive health and rights (in a good way).

SHINE SA is excited to support Sexual Health Week once again and use this time to empower South Australians to learn, share and speak openly about sexual health and relationships.

This year’s theme, ‘It’s Your Right’ is a timely reminder that our sexual and reproductive health and rights shouldn’t take the back seat when it comes to looking after ourselves.

We believe that whether you’re having sex, not having sex at all or still figuring things out – you deserve respectful care, accurate information to make decisions that work for you and to make choices over your own body.

With open conversations and the right information, people can make informed choices, advocate for their health and wellbeing, and feel confident and connected navigating relationships.

Our theme: It’s Your Right can mean different things for different people. It could be understanding rights, empowering people to be their authentic selves, improving wellbeing, or feeling confident to say what you really want (and don’t want) in relationships. This Sexual Health Week, no matter who you are – you belong in sexual health conversations.

Start by exploring topics like:

  • Contraception, including what, when, and how you use it.
  • Bodily autonomy (It’s your body. It’s your choice)
  • How our rights shape our relationships, health and wellbeing
  • Navigating relationships with confidence
  • Communicating openly and respectfully.

Sexual Health Week is a powerful opportunity for all of us to contribute to a healthier, more informed community that understands their rights and the services available to them. Together, we can break down stigma, spark meaningful conversations, and create an environment where people feel confident advocating for their sexual health and wellbeing.

Get involved!

SHINE SA invites community groups, organisations, schools, and individuals to host events or create initiatives that raise awareness about sexual health and relationships.

Whether it’s a workshop, a community event, a classroom activity, or a social media campaign, your involvement can help spark important conversations and promote inclusive, accurate messaging around sexual health.
