Adult Gender Affirming Care in General Practice Workshop

Delivered by experienced clinicians and specialists, the half-day workshop will cover clinical, practical and lived experience perspectives to support
inclusive, evidence-based practice.

Workshop sessions include:

• Trans lived experience: Hear from SA Rainbow Advocacy Alliance (SARAA) and gain insight into the lived experience of trans and gender diverse people including barriers to healthcare and how to foster an inclusive practice environment.
• Models of care: An expert clinical psychologist will provide an overview of multidisciplinary frameworks, collaborative models and psychological support pathways.
• Gender affirming hormone therapy: Endocrinologist and SHINE SA’s Sexual Health Physician provide a deep dive into managing hormone therapies including dosage, management and pathology interpretation.
• Gender affirming care in general practice: Hear from SHINE SA’s experienced Sexual Health Doctors about general practice presentations including menstrual suppression and contraceptive options, integrating sexual health and HIV care and more.
• Gender Affirming Surgery: Understand surgical options, pre-operative preparation and more from a Specialist Plastic Surgeon from Gender Institute Australia.
• Fertility preservation and Donor conception: Fertility SA Doctor will take you through navigating reproductive choices, counselling patients on family planning before starting hormone therapy, and understanding available preservation techniques.
