Youth and community service workers are encouraged to enrol in SHINE SA’s specialised sexual health course. In an adaption of the popular FReedom to Explore Sexual Health (FRESH) Course, SHINE SA’s 3-day youth and community service course provides workers with an opportunity to share learning and build confidence around sexual and reproductive health.
Sexual health education is an essential area of professional development for those that work with young people. South Australia is currently observing a rise in sexually transmitted infections, which disproportionately affects those under the age of 30. Through equipping workers with practical skills and resources, SHINE SA can help build the confidence needed to work with clients in the area of relationships and sexual health.
FRESH: Youth and Community Services Focus is delivered by an experienced sexual health educator and will cover sexually transmissible infections (STIs), contraception, pregnancy options, consent and sexual violence and more. The course will focus on building confidence and the practical skills needed to address clients’ sexual health needs.
SHINE SA’s next FRESH: Youth and Community Services Focus course runs 23-25 October 2019.
