FREE Training for Murray Bridge, Mallee, Riverland and Coorong Primary Healthcare Workers

SHINE SA is offering FREE face to face inclusive Sexual and Reproductive Health Training Day in Murray Bridge on 19 March 2026.

Developed and delivered by SHINE SA’s experienced educators’, doctors and nurses this free training opportunity is a chance to build your confidence around sexual and reproductive health topics including STIs and BBVs, contraception and early medical abortion (EMA). 

Primary Healthcare workers will have the choice to attend one or two of three sessions being offered. 

Please note: Two of these sessions run concurrently in the afternoon.

The Sexual Health Training Day includes:

Session 1: STI and Blood Borne Virus Workshop, 10am-12:00pm, Murray Bridge Golf Club   

Presented by Dr Clare Keogh, this workshop will build your general understanding of STIs and BBVs and will include clinical presentations of STIs and BBVs, testing, treatment, management, discussion of the Australian STI Management Guidelines and more.

Lunch 12:00pm-12.45pm, Murray Bridge Golf Club 

Session 2 – Option A. Contraception Workshop, 1.00pm-4.00pm, Murray Bridge Golf Club  

Presented by Dr Clare Keogh and Nikki Brandon, this interactive workshop will provide a broad overview of choices in contraception, clinical consultation and the safe application of this knowledge in a clinical setting.

Session 2 – Option B. Early Medical Abortion Workshop, 1.30-3.30pm, Moorundi Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service

Presented by Dr Tessa Moody, this workshop will provide a detailed overview of prescribing, delivering and managing medical abortion provision.

Please note: Participants must choose only ONE stream for session two.

These courses are suitable for GPs, Aboriginal Health Workers, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and Nurses and Midwives.

Complimentary lunch is included and offers all participants the opportunity to meet our medical and clinical educators and learn more about SHINE SA and the resources available. 

Travel and accommodation support can be provided to participants attending from surrounding areas.

Meet our presenters

Nikki Brandon (she/her), Community and Clinical Education Manager

Nikki is manager of the clinical and community education team where she provides clinical education to registered nurses and midwives and other health professionals in South Australia. She has been working as a sexual and reproductive health nurse for over 30 years in both the UK and Australia and continues to work for SHINE SA’s outreach clinic within correctional facilities. Nikki is a passionate advocate for access to sexual and reproductive health care and strives to improve sexual health and relationship wellbeing for all.

Dr Tessa Moody (she/her), Sexual Health Doctor and Medical Lead – Education and Advocacy

Dr Tessa Moody is a GP working in Adelaide at Shine SA as a sexual health doctor and medical lead for Education and Advocacy, and as a Consultant at Pregnancy Advisory Centre where she works with a multidisciplinary team and provides access to medical and surgical abortions. She has previously worked at Adelaide Sexual Health Centre, in community general practice, and as a GP at Hyde St General Practice. She has undertaken further training in HIV medicine as an S100 prescriber, obstetric ultrasound, and mental health (focussed psychological strategies). She is involved in activism and advocacy, as a member of the South Australian Abortion Action Coalition.

Tessa is passionate about peer education, and empowering colleagues to support their patient’s reproductive choices.

Dr Clare Keogh (she/her), GP, Sexual Health Doctor and Medical Lead – Education and Advocacy

Dr Clare Keogh is a Sexual Health Doctor and one of the Medical Leads for Education and Advocacy for SHINE SA. She has worked for SHINE SA since 2021 and has had a strong interest in sexual and reproductive health during her career. Clare is a GP working in Morphett Vale, having completed her Fellowship in General Practice in 2018. She is also a deputy chair for the RACGP South Australia. In her multiple roles she is able to provide advocacy and education for doctors, medical students and patients alike, with a strong focus on sexual and reproductive health for all.
