Teaching It Like It Is — Primary

Our Primary course, covering Years 3-6, will support you to develop the skills and confidence needed to teach relationships and sexual health education to primary years.

This 2-day course, facilitated by experienced educators, empowers participants to develop skills and strategies to deliver a comprehensive relationships and sexual health curriculum program for students in primary years.

This course includes teaching methods, up-to-date sexual health information and practical demonstrations of classroom activities.

The course covers a range of resources and curriculum outlines, all mapped to the Australian Curriculum and Department for Education Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum.

In this course, participants will:

  • explore comprehensive relationships and sexual health information and statistics
  • engage with practical learning activities and teaching methods
  • develop facilitation skills and strategies for discussing sensitive issues
  • develop an understanding of inclusive practices to involve parents and carers
  • acquire a range of resources and curriculum outlines that are mapped to the Australian Curriculum and the Department for Education’s Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum.

 

Resources

Participants will receive SHINE SA curriculum resources (including the resource booklets featured below) and associated PowerPoints.

Recognition

Participants will receive a certificate of attendance that references the relevant Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

This course is tailored to school staff working with primary years students including teachers, leaders and SSOs.

Course Cost

$600 for Department for Education staff

$780 for non-government school/other organisation staff

$400 for pre-service teachers

Invoice for payment may be negotiated. This will incur an additional $50.00 fee per invoice.
